ANDRÁSSY FELLOWSHIP

The Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA), together with The Hungary Initiatives Foundation (HIF), is now accepting applications for the Andrássy National Security Fellowship - asix-month fellowship program aimed at cultivating the next generation of Hungarian strategic thinkers committed to strengthening ties between Hungary and the United States.

During their time in Washington, Andrássy Fellows will be paired with a specific CEPA program – Strategy and Statecraft, Strengthening Frontline Security, StratCom and Bolstering Atlanticism. 

Fellows will have the opportunity to showcase their research findings via podcasts, expert roundtable discussions, and written policy briefs. Andrássy Fellows will participate in outreach to the U.S. policy and expert communities.

Fellows will also work with core CEPA staff on a full spectrum of think tank processes including, policy briefings, brainstorming sessions, networking, and program planning and administration. CEPA will provide a $3000 monthly stipend, cover roundtrip travel to Washington, D.C., and provide assistance for the Fellow’s visa application process.

Széchenyi University concludes a Fulbright Scholarship Agreement

On Tuesday 26th February, Dr Péter Földesi, Rector of Széchenyi István University and Dr Károly Jókay, Managing Director of the Fulbright Committee, signed a cooperation agreement. One of the principle goals of the collaboration is to invite lecturers and professors from the United States to be involved in the delivery of 24 new English-taught academic programmes to be launched in September 2019, within the University’s current internationalization drive.

Open Doors at the Szechenyi Istvan University

On Wednesday, 16th January, Széchenyi István University hosted this year’s Open Doors (Nyított Kapuk) Fair for prospective students. On an expanded site, in both the Aula and in the Lab Building, there were 32 booths and countless novelties. Altogether, there were over 5,000 visitors, with many more high school students, teachers and parents than last year showing interest in the opportunities offered by our expanding HEI.

PROFILE OF TÓTH ÁRPÁD

Tóth Árpád is a project manager, PhD candidate on the SzEEDSM management programme, researcher and lecturer currently working and studying at Széchenyi István University, Győr.

Árpád graduated in Győr, completing both his Bachelors and Masters studies (the latter in Accounting and Finance) at Széchenyi, following this with a Law qualification (Law extended Economist, Finance and Economic Regulations) from ELTE.

Tempus Foundation’s International Coordinators’ Meeting

Each year, the Tempus Public Foundation organizes a professional consultative meeting for the international affairs staff of Hungarian higher education institutions, where the focus is on current events, challenges, good practice and diverse aspects of the internationalization process of HEIs. This year from 14-16 November the University of Debrecen was host to the meeting with around 250 participants attending the event, including a team from Széchenyi István University’s Centre of International Programmes. This was the fifteenth occasion on which the meeting has been held. The central theme this year was the internationalization of institutions, that is student and teacher mobility, the reception of foreign scholarship holders and international cooperation between universities. Via lectures, workshops and interactive sessions, participants had the opportunity to become better informed about current issues surrounding all these topics.

ERASMUS DAYS

In the framework of the countrywide Erasmus Days promotion, The Centre of International Programmes (CIP) at Széchenyi István University hosted an event designed to encourage greater interest in student mobility schemes for study and work experience abroad. Dr Eszter Lukács, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs at SZE opened the event with a welcome speech to participants who were principally members of staff and lecturers at the University.

Europe and Us Debate on the future of the EU

The European Commission and the European Parliament regard it as important that its leaders and decision-makers are able to have a dialogue with citizens. To this end, Citizen Forums are organized. Such an event will take place on 8 October 2018 in Révkomárom. The event will be held in Hungarian and Slovak. The event will conclude with a buffet lunch for the participants.



A bus to the Forum will be organised.
