The academic year has started for the only double-degree MBA programme in Central Europe

Széchenyi István University, in collaboration with the University of Rhode Island, Kingston, US, is launching from the current semester an English-taught double-degree MBA, offering a unique opportunity in Hungary and in Central Europe. The special feature of the four-semester programme is that participants receive a degree from both institutions. The Pallas Athéné Domus Meriti Foundation (PADME), established by the Hungarian National Bank, is supporting the studies of ten Hungarian students with scholarships.

Inaugural Meeting of Széchenyi István University Foundation’s Board of Trustees

On 1 August 2020, the controlling rights of Széchenyi István University will be transferred from the state to the Széchenyi István University Foundation. The Board of Trustees held the inaugural meeting at the University on Wednesday, 22 July. At the event, Dr Erzsébet Knáb, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, emphasized that the foundation's task and responsibility, in conjunction with the members of the board of trustees and the university community, is the creation of a more flexible and predictable operating environment, ensuring the university's visibility in the global higher education space and the further reinforcement of its international competitiveness. Following the change of model, the institution will contribute as an entrepreneurial university to the development of the national economy.

European Universities Initiative: Széchenyi István University was among the winners

Széchenyi István University, in an alliance with seven partner universities, has made a successful application for funding in the European Commission's European Universities Initiative. The five million euro grant will cover the costs of joint academic programmes, joint research and projects as well as exchange programmes for students and staff.

KOCSIS90 BUDAPEST event at Groupama Aréna

On Thursday, 14 November 2019, as part of the KOCSIS 90 memorial year, an event was organised to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the legendary Hungarian football player, Sándor Kocsis, a World Cup top scorer. The founder of the memorial year is Dr Barnabás Kovács, former Hungarian consul general in Barcelona and currently Head of the Innovation and Research Centre of Széchenyi István University in Budapest. The main patron of the event was Sándor Csányi, president of the Hungarian Football Association (MLSZ) and vice president of FIFA and UEFA.

Record Attendance at National Meeting for International Coordinators

The internationalization of Hungarian higher education was at the centre of the National International Coordinators Meeting held at Széchenyi István University from Wednesday 27 November to Friday 29 November. Thanks to the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme, The University of Győr is making great progress in its internationalization process. The Meeting was a record-breaking event, with nearly three hundred participants arriving from all Hungarian HEIs.

INTERNATIONAL DINNER, AUTUMN SEMESTER 2019

On 22nd October 2019, the Students’ Union of Széchenyi István University (EHÖK) with the support of  the Stipendium Hungaricum Mentor Network and the Erasmus Student Network, Győr, organised an International Dinner involving over one hundred participants, the majority consisting of international students but also involving Hungarians. The main goal of such events is the promotion of international student integration. In addition, Hungarian students  have the chance to be introduced to elements of other cultures and to sample different culinary specialities from around the world.

MOBILI-TEA EVENT

On 10 October 2019, in celebration of the Erasmus Days 2019, Széchenyi István University organized an event titled Mobili-TEA, an informal meeting for both our Erasmus and non-Erasmus students.

This was a casual event where, over a mug of tea and biscuits, students could meet former scholarship holders to talk about their experiences and opportunities.

It was also an opportunity for students intending to spend some time studying outside Hungary to take a test of oral proficiency in either German or English. Students were initially able to practice their language skills in a relaxed manner while socializing before proceeding to an interview with a teacher to measure their linguistic ability in a more formal manner.
