The 40^th Óvár Scientific Day conference explores the connection between the European Union’s Green Deal and agriculture, addressing key questions about the balance between sustainability and competitiveness. The Green Deal is transforming the agricultural sector, creating both challenges and opportunities for farmers, food industry players, and rural economies. Sustainable production models and innovative technologies are not only help serving environmental protection protecting the environment but can also provide create long-term competitive advantages for market players (buyers and sellers) and/or market participants (traders and investors). The aim of the conference is to explore, through a multidisciplinary approach, how sustainability goals can be achieved while maintaining the competitiveness of the agricultural sector. Through professional expert presentations participants will gain insights into the latest trends in sustainable agriculture, the role of digitalization, and the future of rural development.

The conference will be opened by Prof. Dr. Ferenc Friedler, Rector, Széchenyi István University.

Duration of the presentations: 15 minutes lecture + 5 minutes discussion.

Conference fee:

Participation in the form of a presentation, either oral or poster, is subject to a fee of 80 EUR (40 EUR for PhD students) if registration is submitted prior to 20 October 2025, or 40 EUR without the inclusion of the gala dinner. Subsequent registration, whether for presentation, oral or poster participation, incurs a fee of 90 EUR (50 EUR for PhD students) if registration is submitted after 20 October 2025, and 60 EUR without the inclusion of the gala dinner. It should be noted that the registration fee covers two author appearances. 

It should be noted that the conference fee covers only catering costs; all other expenses will be covered by the Albert Kázmér Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, Széchenyi István University.

The conference fee should be paid to the account of the Alumni Association of Óvári Farmers at OTP Bank IBAN: HU90 1173 7076 2372 7256 0000 0000, BIC (SWIFT) code: OTPVHUHB with the name and address of the payer clearly indicated. If necessary, a proforma invoice will be issued to facilitate completion of the transfer. Those travelling from the same institution are advised to transfer the conference fee in one invoice (bank transfer), indicating their names.
