Széchenyi István University enjoys increasingly strong and diversified relations with China, in line with Hungary's national economic aspirations. In a further step, the institution has launched a Chinese language course for primary school pupils, with participation free of charge. With this opportunity, the University would open new doors for Hungarian children. The course is still open for applications.
"Those were golden days for me," sums up her years at Széchenyi István University in Győr, where Irina Grakhova, a marketing Master's student from Siberia, came to study. The young Russian girl is currently living and working in Budapest, preparing for her state exams. She said that she sees many similarities between Hungary and her home country; the mentality of the people and the built environment remind her of home. This is partly why she decided to anchor herself for a while in her place of study.
The first phase of Széchenyi István University’s Science and Innovation Park in Győr is being implemented on the former site of the Győr Biscuit and Waffle Factory, with the help of HUF 6 billion 766 million of non-refundable EU funding awarded under the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme. The iconic "cube building" will be transformed and renovated to become the new symbol and jewel in the city’s crown. Building on the main research areas of the University, the park aims to stimulate the development of the region and to contribute its scientific potential to the success of the business sector in the international competitive world.

An Uzbek student from Széchenyi István University has won the prize for the best presentation in English at a professional conference on business informatics. Almost 400 students from 16 countries representing 26 teams participated in this weekend’s Formula Student Symposium, organized by Széchenyi István University. On the M44 motorway running between Kecskemét and Békéscsaba, a unique bridge crosses the river Tisza. The so-called cable-stayed bridge is not only unique in its appearance, but has also posed a number of technical challenges for professionals. Its designer, Dr Zoltán Teiter, lectures in bridge construction in the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Transport Sciences at Széchenyi István University, and says that those who graduate from Győr will acquire a strong foundation and practical knowledge that will help them to succeed in the profession.
Former student at Széchenyi István University, Malika Nisal Ratnayake, from Sri Lanka, has been awarded the international „Green Talent” prize for his doctoral research on sustainability. In addition to pure petroleum derivative-based resources, plants can be used to partially replace plastics, which could make a major contribution to sustainable development. This is the field of research of Dr László Lendvai, an assistant professor at Széchenyi István University, who has been awarded the Bolyai János Scholarship by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

The existing infrastructure of Széchenyi István University at ZalaZONE is to be expanded with a new incubation building, as well as with tools and equipment supporting automotive research, further strengthening the presence of the institution in Zalaegerszeg. Construction will start in September.
Uni Győr ETO HC is aiming to qualify for the play-offs of the first division ice hockey championship covering Hungary and Transylvania in the 2021-22 season. With the decisive participation of Széchenyi István University, and involving more than a hundred researchers, The Insula Magna Programme, laying the foundations for the future of Szigetköz and Csallóköz, is now underway with wide-ranging collaboration. On Semmelweis Day, the management of Győr hospital recognized the efforts of the volunteers of Széchenyi István University during the epidemic period with a „For Petz Aladár Hospital” award. It is in large part thanks to the organizational work carried out by the University Service Centre and the Students’ Union, as well as the devoted steadfastness of the students that Győr-Moson-Sopron County managed to cope with the pandemic.
The head of Széchenyi István University’s Automotive Research Centre and associate professor in the Department of Road and Railway Vehicles, Dr Ferenc Szauter, has been awarded the Count Ferenc Széchényi prize at a ceremonial assembly of the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Municipality. The recognition is also an indication that the Research Centre’s results have made Széchenyi István University a dominant research location in the last decade.
