The Association of Hungarian Librarians recently held this year’s roaming conference, at which the "Young Librarian of the Year" award was presented. The Kovács Máté Foundation’s special prize was awarded to Renáta Farkas, an employee of the University Library and Archives of Széchenyi István University.

Many of them have expressed their desire to get in-depth knowledge and training in Gandhian thoughts which would expose them not only to the life, philosophy, and method of Gandhi but also to Indian social life and culture.

The Hungarian Rectors' Conference has elected Dr Eszter Lukács, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs at Széchenyi István University, to head its International Committee, acknowledging the institution's dynamic development in the field of internationalization. The field is becoming increasingly important for Hungarian higher education because it contributes to making our universities globally competitive.
Péter Böröcz, head of the Packaging and Environmental Testing Laboratory at Széchenyi István University, has recently been elected to the Board of Directors of the US-based International Association of Packaging Research Institutes.
Széchenyi István University is one of the finalists of the UN-sponsored Green Gown Awards, among universities from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada and Australia. The success demonstrates the university’s commitment to sustainability.
The cooperation agreements concluded by Széchenyi István University with Uzbek universities are centred on exchanges of teaching staff, researchers and students, as well as joint research and academic programmes. For the institution, Central Asia is becoming more and more valuable in terms of internationalization.

The Ambassador of Nigeria to Hungary, Dr Modupe Enitan Irele also participated in the visit of a delegation from the National Defence College Nigeria to Széchenyi István University. The meeting strengthened not only the relations between the two countries, but also between the two institutions.
In cooperation with the Prime Minister's Office, Széchenyi István University and the National Heritage Development Nonprofit Ltd., Mosonmagyaróvár Castle, home to the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, has been renovated at an investment cost of HUF 1.7 billion. New perspectives in the field of remote diagnostic procedures have been opened up with a development in health innovation by Róbert Varga, having first aroused interest in the profession last Autumn. From September, the student of electrical engineering will continue his studies on the Master's programme at Széchenyi István University, Győr. According to his plans, the satellite laboratory in Győr could be the cradle of new scientific discoveries.
At Széchenyi István University, Győr, as part of World Telecommunications Day, Huawei Technologies Hungary gave a presentation of its new technology, enabling broadband internet to reach households much faster than previously. Operating on up to 5G, AirPON combines wired and wireless technology to help telecom service providers deliver the Internet wirelessly from a given cable endpoint to homes, public buildings and industrial buildings - reducing network deployment time by up to a third. Hungary will be the third country in Europe to have such technology, which will be next year widely employed on a global scale.
All international students studying in Hungary can register for the coronavirus vaccine, including those on Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships, self-funded students and Erasmus+ exchange programme students. At Széchenyi István University, several young people have already taken the opportunity and received the vaccination.

In one category, “sustainable cities and communities”, the University of Győr is in the top 200, proof that it is not only a good university, but also strives to meet the criteria of sustainability in all respects.
Norbert Fóris, a visually impaired student on the Masters programme in Sports and Recreation at Széchenyi István University, is striving to participate in the judo competition at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. In addition to the Student Innovation Project and Student-Lecturer Project, which have been running with great success in recent years, Széchenyi István University has launched a new pilot programme exclusively for international students. The Students’ Innovative Project (SIP) aims to enable them to participate in projects based on real problems, helping them to gain practical experience. The teams are developing solutions for two topics - sourcing ingredients related to national cuisines and navigating local stores - from which even startups can be born.

Professionalism and an international environment are the two elements best characterising Széchenyi István University's English-taught double MBA programme run in conjunction with the American University of Rhode Island, according to Péter Soma Simon, one of the participants. Graduates of the MBA degree programme, unique in Central Europe, are granted a diploma from both institutions. The Pallas Athéné Domus Meriti Foundation, established by the Central Bank of Hungary, provides scholarship support to ten Hungarian students, including Mr Simon.
